In a social media post released by LVMPD, they detailed how dispatchers received a 911 call on Monday, November 3, from a man claiming to be armed and seeking to die at the hands of police. The man engaged in a tense standoff near Wheeler Peak and Martin Luther King Blvd. around 9 p.m., taunting officers to shoot him while refusing to remove his hands from his pockets.
Officers, backed by an air unit providing crucial real-time updates, worked to bring the situation under control without resorting to lethal force.
