Deadly year on Las Vegas roads prompts new safety task force

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Traffic fatalities in Las Vegas have climbed to shocking levels in 2025, prompting law enforcement agencies across the valley to take immediate action.

As of Monday morning, 153 people have been killed in traffic-related crashes on Las Vegas roadways. This far surpasses Metro’s goal of keeping that number under 125 for the year.

A new multi-jurisdictional traffic safety task force was officially announced on Dec. 8 at a press conference held at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. The task force brings together the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Division, North Las Vegas Police Department, Henderson Police Department, Clark County School District Police Department, and Boulder City Police Department.
