LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Residents in a Centennial Hills neighborhood say parking tickets are suddenly appearing on their streets and in their driveways, prompting questions about the enforcement.
U.S. Army veteran Gilbert Talag said he was surprised when his next door neighbor received a $50 ticket while parked in his own driveway.
“Yeah, I was very surprised because we’ve never had parking enforcement before,” Talag said.
The City of Las Vegas confirmed parking enforcement was in the area Nov. 25, responding to a resident complaint about an RV parked on the street. The city gave the owner a citation for an oversized vehicle in a residential neighborhood. The city said the officer then drove around the neighborhood to look for additional violations and saw a Jeep that was over the sidewalk, prompting a ticket.
“And I’m just like, why give people $50 tickets for something like that? You could have knocked on the door and said, ‘Hey, you’re parked on the sidewalk,’” Talag said.
