Las Vegas police officer arrested on kidnapping, domestic violence charges

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas police officer was arrested on multiple domestic violence-related felony charges, including kidnapping.

On Dec. 10, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Officer Phillipe Dinh, 31, was arrested on 11 charges and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, according to a release from the LVMPD.

Dinh faces the following charges:

  • 2 counts of Kidnapping Second Degree
  • 1 count of Domestic Battery by Strangulation
  • 1 count of Assault Constituting Domestic Violence, with Use of a Deadly Weapon
  • 1 count of Domestic Battery with Use of a Deadly Weapon
  • 3 counts of Coercion Constituting Domestic Violence with Threat or Use of Physical Force
  • 1 count of Coercion Constituting Domestic Violence
  • 2 counts of Domestic Battery, First Offense

Dinh has been employed with the department since 2021, assigned to the Community Safety Division in the Southeast Area Command. He will be placed on suspension of police powers without pay pending the investigation.
