Man accused of killing child in Las Vegas road-rage shooting could face death penalty

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Prosecutors could seek the death penalty against the 22-year-old man who told police he shot and killed a child in a road-rage shooting on a freeway.

Tyler Johns is accused of shooting and killing 11-year-old Brandon Dominguez on the morning of Nov. 14. Johns and Dominguez’s stepfather engaged in road-rage behavior on the 215 Beltway before the shooting, police said.

Last week, a Henderson Justice Court judge determined there was enough evidence against Johns to move the case to district court. During his arraignment in district court on Thursday, prosecutors said they are considering the death penalty.

In some murder cases, prosecutors will bring the case to a death penalty review, essentially a group within the Clark County District Attorney’s Office that determines the possible death penalty…
