LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The driver who led police on an erratic chase through numerous valley streets on Friday in an attempt to elude officers, and who has had several run-ins with police in past years, posted bond, according to court records.

Emil Urias, 36, was taken into custody on December 12 after he attempted to flee from officers who were trying to stop him after he was first spotted driving up to 70 mph near Decatur Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue, according to the arrest report.
Police followed Urias as he drove recklessly along numerous roads, including Rancho Drive, Michael Way, Jones Boulevard, Charleston Avenue, and Paradise Road, running red lights, swerving between lanes, coming “very close to hitting construction workers on the road, and almost hitting a security guard in the Venetian casino parking lot,” the report stated.
Urias was arrested after he abandoned his vehicle and ran into the Silver Sevens Casino and then out into the parking lot, where police arrested him.

According to court records, Urias is also known as Michael Barreras and has a criminal record dating back to 2011 when he was arrested for trafficking cocaine. He accepted a plea deal, lowering the charge to possession of a controlled substance with a suspended prison sentence of up to three years.
Urias was arrested again in 2012 on drug charges and in 2013 on a battery charge. He did serve six months in the Nevada Department of Corrections. He also had arrests in 2015, 2019, and 2020 for drug-related charges. Bench warrants were issued for him following some of the arrests because he missed his court appearances…
