Las Vegas offering free trees to residents in these ZIP codes

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas is offering free trees to residents who live in certain ZIP codes, the city announced Wednesday.

According to a release from the city, Las Vegas recieved $5 million in federal funding to plant drought-tolerant shade trees in areas that are most affected by urban heat islands.

A lack of tree canopy and an overabundance of concrete, asphalt, buildings, and traffic have caused increased temperatures in these areas.

Residents in eligible ZIP codes can apply online to qualify for a tree, planting, and an irrigation system. The application can be found at this link…
