Rescue Operation Saves Hikers and Dogs From Mountain Trail

Last weekend, search-and-rescue crews airlifted two hikers and their dogs from a snowy peak in Clark County, Nevada. In a social media post sharing footage of the rescue, LVMPD Search and Rescue says the hikers became lost and called for help after dark. Thankfully, there were no injuries, and the hikers had “appropriate clothing and gear” for both them and the dogs.

“On Saturday December 20th, 2025, around 7pm, SAR personnel aboard AIR1 conducted a rescue operation on North Loop Trail on Mt Charleston,” shared LVMPD Search and Rescue in the post. “Two hikers set out to Mummy Mountain with their two dogs when they got off trail near Mummy Springs. They lost the day light and called 911 once they were unable to relocate the trail. [. . .] SR7 and SR9 packaged both victims in helitack hotseats. One of the dogs, a chihuahua, was packaged in the stork bag, while the other, a husky, was packaged in a singing rock dog harness. All were extracted via hoist.”
