The City of Las Vegas has been recycling Christmas trees since 2001. According to the City of Las Vegas X, more than 319,000 trees have been recycled, creating nutrient-rich mulch for local use.

Recycling Christmas trees keeps organic material out of landfills, conserves water, and benefits the community. According to the City of Las Vegas, recycled trees are turned into mulch that retains soil moisture, improves plant health, and supports public landscaping, including dust control.
Las Vegas Valley residents can recycle trees at more than 30 free drop-off locations across Southern Nevada from Friday through Jan. 15. Trees should be stripped of lights, wire, tinsel, ornaments, and nails. Flocked trees are not accepted because their chemical coatings can contaminate mulch and damage equipment…
