LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 30-year-old man who was in prison awaiting trial for murdering his girlfriend in North Las Vegas died by suicide, the Clark County coroner’s office confirmed to 8 News Now.
Court records showed Markeem Benson was in High Desert State Prison for violating his probation on an attempted robbery charge. Benson was scheduled to go to trial next year for killing 33-year-old Renise Wolfe. But last week, the Nevada Department of Corrections said he was found dead, and on Monday, the coroner’s office told 8 News Now he hanged himself.
