Nevada open enrollment allows public school choice regardless of zip code

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, Nevada parents can choose the public school that best fits their child’s needs, regardless of zip code, under a newly passed law.

The Clark County School District has a key deadline just two weeks away for students wanting to participate in open enrollment.

“Open enrollment is a significant opportunity to level the playing field for thousands of students,” said Assemblymember Selena Torres-Fossett. “The unfortunate reality is for far too long, our zip code has determined our educational abilities and our educational outcome. We know that in certain zip codes you’re more likely to go to college or get a better score in your ACT.”…
