Clark County sees 30% increase in flu-related ER visits this week

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Centers for Disease Control is listing the state of Nevada as “high” on the 2025-2026 influenza activity level. The CDC’s online and interactive map tracks flu activity on a scale ranging from “minimal” to “very high.”

As the country reports over 7 million cases of flu-related illnesses in the final week of 2025, local epidemiologist Dr. Anil Mangla said this spike in flu cases is typical, but still alarming.

“Those numbers are correct across the country. In Nevada, we have our own numbers, and so we have right now 164 hospitalizations. We have our ER visits increasing. We have wastewater surveillance increasing,” Mangla said.

Mangla said 71% of people hospitalized in Clark County are 50 years and older. ER visits related to the flu are increasing by 30%, he said…
