Meet Las Vegas’ first babies of 2026

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas has some new residents who arrived shortly after the start of the new year.

The first baby at Centennial Hospital arrived just 19 seconds into 2026. Baby JayR was born to parents Alenjandra Sapien and Carlos Aguielera. He weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 1/4 inches long. His parents, who have been married for five years, said the past year was filled with many blessings and are thrilled to have JayR join his older sister.

At Summerlin Hospital, Edelin Olejua and Michael Chavarro welcomed their baby boy at 12:13 a.m. He was born a few days earlier, weighed 7.5 pounds, and measured 20 inches long.

The couple, who have been married for nine years, said they are debating between two names and are waiting for his big sister to visit and serve as the tie-breaker…
