Rising costs of youth sports in Nevada explains lower participation, coach says

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Youth sports participation in Nevada is in the danger zone.

The U.S. Census Bureau’s National Survey of Children’s Health revealed that 46% of Nevada youth ages 6-17 are involved in sports. That’s 10% below the national average, according to the Nevada Independent.

As for why, the article cites extreme heat in Las Vegas as well as the rising costs tied to participating in sports.
