Clark County wastewater levels show high levels of influenza amid ‘super flu’ surge

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Wastewater surveillance data from the past month shows a high concentration of influenza in Southern Nevada as the nation sees a surge in “super flu” cases.

This news comes as the whole country begins seeing a massive surge of flu cases this winter, mostly attributed to “super flu,” or a variant of the H3N2 virus, which is a subtype of influenza A. The name “super flu” is related to the strain’s ability to spread rapidly and has been applied to many other strains in the past, according to the CDC.
