Attorney seeks $1M from O.J. Simpson’s estate

LAS VEGAS (KLAS)A California attorney has filed a lawsuit against the representative of O.J. Simpson’s estate, alleging more than $1 million in unpaid legal fees. Ronald P. Slates claims Malcolm LaVergne, who managed Simpson’s estate, breached a contract by failing to pay for services rendered. The suit was filed last week in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County.

According to the complaint, LaVergne was appointed to represent Simpson’s estate in 2024. As of October 2025, the amount allegedly owed totaled $1,147,373.36. Slates submitted a creditor’s claim on October 30, 2025, which LaVergne rejected in November.

Now, Slates has filed a lawsuit against LaVergne, alleging more than $1 million in unpaid legal fees. The suit, filed last week in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, claims LaVergne breached a contract by failing to pay for services rendered.

The lawsuit follows a high-profile settlement in November, when Simpson’s estate agreed to pay Ron Goldman’s family $58 million. That settlement stemmed from a decades-old civil judgment against Simpson, who was found liable for Goldman’s death in 1997 after being acquitted in the criminal trial. Goldman’s family had pursued the judgment for years, arguing Simpson’s estate should satisfy the unpaid amount.

The case is now pending in Clark County, where the court will determine whether Slates is entitled to the compensation he claims…
