Lawyer weighs in, celebrates stricter DUI penalties from Gov. Lombardo’s new crime law

LAS VEGAS — Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo’s marquee crime package is now in effect.

The so-called “Safe Streets and Neighborhoods Act” is now law in the 2026 New Year, increasing penalties for a long list of crimes, including smash-and-grab robberies, assault and battery against hospitality employees, and DUIs involving a death.
