LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – There are new legal filings aimed to help foster children who struggle with reading. One parent 8 News Now spoke with hopes this case ends up becoming more than empty words.
In December, the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada filed more than 20 special education due process complaints against the Clark County School District.
They cite a ‘systemic failure’ to teach foster children with dyslexia how to read, arguing that CCSD is ignoring state law by promoting these students without ensuring they have mastered basic reading skills.
