Las Vegas maintenance worker dies days after machete attack

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A maintenance worker who was critically injured in a machete attack while assisting with an eviction in the Las Vegas valley has died from his injuries, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.

Orlando Sosa, 39, died Friday, Jan. 9, days after the attack that unfolded as a constable was serving an eviction notice at an apartment complex in the 6600 block of South Sandhill Road near East Sunset Road.

According to an arrest report, the incident happened just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, when a deputy Las Vegas constable arrived to serve an eviction notice on Victor Vondrasek, 46. The constable requested assistance from Sosa, an on-site maintenance worker, to gain entry into the apartment.
