‘It’s not a mistake’: Judge sentences North Las Vegas man in DUI crash that killed friend

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Clark County District Court judge sentenced a 24-year-old North Las Vegas man to serve up to 15 years in prison for a deadly 2023 crash that killed his friend.

According to Clark County prosecutors, Sammy Nevarez-Villa of North Las Vegas and 25-year-old Leovigildo Morales-Gomez were returning from a rodeo when their vehicle turned over near Jean, ejecting both men from the vehicle.

Morales-Gomez were pronounced dead at the scene, but Nevarez-Villa, who was driving, admitted to driving drunk and speeding before the crash…
