Las Vegas man in coma, critical condition as police search for hit-and-run driver

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman’s voice broke through the coma’s fog as Matias Lagarreta, 28, squeezed his wife’s hand as she spoke about the police detectives looking for the hit-and-run driver responsible.

On Monday evening, Las Vegas Metropolitan police responded to a hit-and-run crash at Lake Mead Boulevard and Marion Drive. Matias was driving his motorcycle westbound on Lake Mead, where police say the driver of a white SUV going northbound on Marion crashed into Matias before fleeing the scene.

“The rider of this motorcycle was ejected and left in the roadway,” LVMPD Sgt. Stuart Richmond said. “The vehicle took off.”…
