Las Vegas moped crash leaves rider critically injured

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A moped rider was critically injured Saturday afternoon following a crash with a passenger vehicle on South Eastern Avenue, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The crash occurred around 2:22 p.m. on South Eastern Avenue, just south of East Maule Avenue. Evidence gathered at the scene, along with witness statements, indicated that a 2012 Honda Civic had been stopped facing westbound on the 2600 block of East Sunset Road near Sunset Park.

Police say a 2024 Zhejiang Senling moped was traveling northbound on Eastern Avenue as it approached the Sunset Park exit. As the Honda initiated a left turn, it moved into the path of the oncoming moped. The moped rider attempted to brake but was unable to avoid impact, striking the front driver’s side of the Honda.
