Nevada job openings dip as hiring slows in Las Vegas, Reno

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nevada’s labor market showed signs of cooling in November, with fewer job openings reported statewide, according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The latest Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey shows Nevada recorded 59,000 job openings in November, down from 62,000 in October, signaling a slowdown after months of steady hiring demand.

Southern Nevada continues to drive much of the state’s employment activity, particularly in leisure and hospitality, where Las Vegas employers have spent years rebuilding staffing levels after the pandemic. However, analysts say the dip in job openings suggests casinos, hotels, and entertainment venues may be pulling back slightly as tourism demand levels off.

While businesses are still hiring, fewer positions are being posted compared to earlier in the fall, reflecting a more cautious approach heading into the winter months.

In northern Nevada, including the Reno-Sparks area, hiring activity remained relatively stable, supported by manufacturing, logistics, and technology jobs.
