CPS finds North Las Vegas teacher hit autistic student

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An investigation from Clark County Family Services determined that a Clark County School District teacher hit a special needs student, despite the district’s investigation determining the assault was “unsubstantiated.”

The incident happened last year in October at Addeliar Guy Elementary School, which is located between Lone Mountain Road and Valley Drive.

Administrators at Guy Elementary notified some parents in a document last fall that a teacher used physical restraint on a 7-year-old non-verbal, autistic boy. According to a copy of the document, which 8 News Now obtained, the child hit his teacher and the teacher then slapped his hands and called him a bastard and another curse word.

“When you have special needs children, you have teachers in there that are alleging abuse, you should investigate it further,” Moe said. “It should go on longer. Have more people in there, watching these kids and observing them and making sure that they’re taking care of properly. If you don’t have the right training, you shouldn’t be in the class with these children.”…
