Nevada DMV finding stolen, VIN swapped cars weekly

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — J.D. Decker, chief of Nevada’s DMV Compliance Enforcement Division, said VIN inspectors are catching swapped VINs twice a week.

Swapping VINs is a method scammers use to sell stolen vehicles.

“When they find out, through an inspection station, that the vehicle is stolen, the vehicle at that point gets impounded by the DMV’s law enforcement division,” Decker said…
