Ranch asks for help as county targets roosters

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — As fears of closure grow, a 25-year-old Las Vegas ranch found itself at odds with Clark County code enforcers over horse shade structures and free-range chickens—the cost isn’t cheep.

The McKee Ranch, located near Dean Martin Dr. and Pebble Rd., was the subject of a January Clark County code and animal protection visit regarding unpermitted structures and a cooping violation, according to county officials and a ranch spokesperson.

The total cost to bring the two-and-a-half-acre ranch up to code was a surprise to property staff, who spoke to 8 News Now, alleging that the around $10,000 price tag for moving or building a new coop and bringing down long-standing structures would be too costly.
