LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Clark County is offering financial assistance to drivers whose vehicles fail smog tests through its Smog Free Clark County program.
The program hosted a repair event where drivers could speak with smog experts and learn how to qualify for a voucher. Eligible drivers can receive a $975 voucher to cover vehicle repairs after failing a smog test.
Loophole closed, program expands
The county said many owners of older vehicles that could not pass a smog test previously obtained classic vehicle license plates to avoid the requirement. The state closed that loophole a couple of years ago.
