Clark County septic tank rules might stay the same as special meeting scheduled

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Southern Nevada District Board of Health will conduct a special meeting on March 11 after recent public feedback from homeowners with septic systems.

The health board’s regulations are not connected to recent legislation, and officials emphasized that county regulations do not require every homeowner with a septic system to convert to sewer service. A crowd of about 1,000 people who showed up at a meeting last week were upset about changes in state law, but the Board of Health doesn’t have the same requirements.

In fact, the Board of Health’s special meeting is being called to consider leaving the rules as they are now. The board will meet to consider and approve a recommendation to withdraw the proposed changes presented last week.
