LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Chinatown stakeholders in Las Vegas applied for a free underground loop route offered by the Boring Company but did not make the company’s top 16 list of locations, stakeholders said.
The proposal, called “Chinatown Tunnel Vision,” called for a one-mile underground connector running parallel to Spring Mountain Road. The project was designed to reduce surface congestion, improve safety, and restore more reliable access for businesses and visitors.
‘The heart of Chinatown’
Joe Muscaglione pushed for the proposal and is the co-creator of Shanghai Taste in Chinatown Plaza and also a shareholder of Chinatownvegas.com. He says Spring Mountain Road is the heart of the Chinatown district but also frequently visited place, with peak-hour traffic delays and increasing pressure on pedestrian safety.
