Las Vegas woman arrested for wide-scale SNAP fraud scheme

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A Las Vegas woman was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing personal information and perpetrating a fraudulent social benefits scheme that processed hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to state officials.

Gov. Joe Lombardo’s office announced that Mychelle Lay, was booked on suspicion of theft over $100,000; fraudulent acts related to public assistance; multiple fraudulent transactions through an enterprise or occupation; and 11 counts of obtaining or using the ID of another person.

Caseworkers with the Nevada Division of Social Services (DSS) first flagged several suspicious items for review, and it soon became clear that Nevada State Police were also investigating the same activities…
