LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Henderson Councilwoman Monica Larson filed a lawsuit against her fellow councilmember, Carrie Cox, claiming she caused her emotional distress when she allegedly recorded a private conversation from behind a curtain, the lawsuit claims.
The lawsuit, filed on March 12, claims that on Jan. 9, 2025, during a retirement party at the Henderson City Hall, Larson stepped aside with community members to have a private conversation. Unbeknownst to her, Cox went behind a curtain, concealing herself, and recorded the private conversation with her phone, the lawsuit said.

After about nine minutes behind the curtain, Cox confronted the group, saying that she recorded the conversation to the effect of, “I’m recording you. I heard your whole conversation,” according to the lawsuit.
This is the same chain of events that led to Cox being indicted by a grand jury and Larson testifying against her.
