Las Vegas man accused of killing ex-girlfriend admitted he ‘could have just left’ before shooting: police

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The man accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend told police he did it, but admitted he “could have just left” before the shooting, according to documents 8 News Now obtained.

On Tuesday, March 17, at around 3:30 p.m., a woman identified as Desirae Toverada called 911 to report a family disturbance at an apartment in the 8900 block of South Durango Drive near Blue Diamond Road.

Toverada told dispatch that her ex-boyfriend, Jorge Garcia, 33, was supposed to come to her residence to pick up his belongings, but was refusing to, according to an arrest report. The two share three kids, Toverada told police.

Toverada said Garcia was armed with a “possible pellet gun,” which he had pointed at her and threatened to shoot her. She also told dispatch that she thought Garcia might be under the influence of drugs, the report said…
