LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Rap lyrics and location data led Metro police to a 26-year-old man accused of shooting and killing his friend, the 8 News Now Investigators have learned.
Police arrested Jamario Lofton on Tuesday on charges including open murder, attempted murder and conspiracy murder, records said. The charges carry both deadly weapon and criminal gang enhancements, meaning detectives suspect the shooting was gang-related.
The shooting on April 1, 2023, happened in the 5900 block of Tamara Costa Court, near Charleston Boulevard and Sloan Lane. After the shooting, Curtis Smith, 18, was dropped off at Centennial Hills Hospital with a gunshot wound and later died from his injuries, the department said…
