North Las Vegas – A violent early-morning collision at a busy intersection left two people dead and others injured, prompting police to arrest the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. The crash occurred on March 22, 2026, near Lone Mountain Road and Clayton Street, where a sport utility vehicle barreled through a red light and slammed into another vehicle.[1][2] Authorities later identified the suspect and filed serious felony charges as the investigation revealed impairment as a key factor.

Collision Unfolds in Seconds

Officers responded to the scene just after 1 a.m. on March 22. A 2016 Honda HR-V sped eastbound on Lone Mountain Road, disregarded a red traffic signal, and broadsided a 2005 Ford Expedition heading north on Clayton Street.[3] The force of the impact sent both vehicles spinning out of control, crashing into a power pole and a wall.

Emergency crews worked quickly to free trapped occupants from the wreckage. High speed contributed to the severity, according to preliminary findings from the North Las Vegas Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit. Rescuers pronounced one victim dead at the location while transporting others to University Medical Center.[4]

Two Lives Lost, Others Fight for Recovery

Andrea Collins, 38, sat in the right-front passenger seat of the Honda without a seat belt. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Rogers Andrus Jr., 53, drove the Ford Expedition and reached the hospital in critical condition before succumbing to his wounds later that day.[1]…
