Nevada judge clears North Las Vegas in ex-firefighter wife’s death

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A federal judge in Nevada has ruled that the city of North Las Vegas is not liable for the death of a woman whose firefighter husband drove 23 miles to retrieve an overdose antidote before she died.

In December 2021, a district court judge sentenced Christopher Candito, a former North Las Vegas firefighter, to 16 to 40 months in prison for the February 2020 death of his wife, Tiffany Slatsky, 25.

Candito, Slatsky and several firefighters attended a party at a downtown hotel-casino on Feb. 21, 2020. Before the party, there were numerous text messages and Venmo transactions between Candito and a colleague about exchanging controlled substances such as oxycodone, oxycontin, an anabolic steroid called Trenbelone and morphine capsules for the purpose of selling them, court documents said…
