Last weekend thousands of Nevadans marched in cities and towns across the state for the third “No Kings” protest nationwide, but high costs, felled trees, and miscommunication have organizers criticizing the City of Las Vegas and the Metropolitan Police Department.
Indivisible Las Vegas – the grassroot organizers behind the local No Kings protest – said the cost of the event ballooned to more than $24,000 for liability insurance, a city permit, officer pay, an ambulance, and barricades.
Two days before the event, six trees in the courtyard outside the Lloyd George Federal Courthouse where the protest was held were also cut down, removing the little shade available to protesters during a rare March heatwave in the state…
