Strong winds persist in Las Vegas, wind advisory in effect

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Strong winds will continue throughout the Las Vegas valley on Friday, with a wind advisory in place until the evening.

Happy Friday, we’ve been off to a strong, breezy start this morning as winds were howling pretty early. Even from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., wind speeds remained 16-23 mph. It’s nice to see some sunshine out there, helping to warm us up.

This dry cold front continues to sweep south, bringing stronger impacts across the Colorado River Valley, where the strongest winds will remain. Gusts there will hit 55 mph, so anyone traveling down there today should be aware of strong crosswinds, blowing dust, and debris. The wind advisory covers Lake Mead, Bullhead City, Needles, Lake Havasu City, Hoover Dam, and Laughlin. It expires tonight at 8 pm…
