Henderson man accepts plea deal after fatally stabbing girlfriend

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Henderson man accepted a plea deal with the Clark County District Attorney’s office several months after police arrested him for killing his girlfriend.

According to Clark County District Court records, Maurice Vanderhall, 28, pleaded guilty on March 17 to second degree murder with a deadly weapon.

Vanderhall was arrested last year on Dec. 2 after he admitted to Henderson police officers that he killed his girlfriend 26-year-old Kennedi Oriti, according to court documents.

The Henderson Police Department said he stabbed Oriti to death at a condominium complex in the 200 block of West Horizon Ridge Parkway. A coroner found at least 20 stab wounds on Oriti’s body, some of which were defensive wounds.

Oriti was reportedly moving out of the condo she shared with Vanderhall the night she died. Police said she was returning to the condo to “make sure she had everything and say goodbye to Maurice,” when he killed her.

According to the arrest report, when officers arrived at the scene, Vanderhall, whose arms and face were covered in blood, let the officers into the condo, where Oriti was found dead on the floor with numerous “knife wounds to her face and neck.”…
