Las Vegas – Authorities responded to a shocking shooting at a central valley hotel on Monday afternoon, where an elderly man fatally shot a staff member before ending his own life. The incident at the MainStay Suites near East Flamingo Road and South Maryland Parkway left two men dead and prompted a swift homicide investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Police described the attack as unprovoked, with no signs of prior conflict between the individuals involved.[1][2]

Officers arrived at the scene around 3:40 p.m. after a 911 call reported a gunshot and a man wounded. They discovered the victim, an Asian man in his 30s who had recently started working at the hotel, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. A witness observed an elderly man departing the area shortly after the initial shot, entering a nearby room where a second gunshot soon followed.[3]

Law enforcement entered the room and found the man in his 80s dead from a self-inflicted wound caused by a handgun. The Clark County Fire Department pronounced both men deceased at the location.
