Las Vegas serial killer who ‘stalked’ victims sentenced to 56 years to life

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A then-18-year-old who prosecutors dubbed a “serial killer” following a murder spree will serve at least 56 years in prison, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Alonzo “AJ” Brown, now 22, killed Tevin Alhashemi, 26; Paul Viana, 62; and Josue Chaparro-Montalvo, 36, in separate shootings from January 2022 to June 2022.

Clark County prosecutors initially intended to seek the death penalty should a jury have convicted Brown for the murders, but late last year, Brown took a plea deal, where both death and life without parole were taken off the table.

In court on Wednesday, Clark County District Court Judge Michelle Leavitt sentenced Brown to 56 years to life, meaning Brown will be in his mid-70s if he is alive when he is parole eligible.

“First, I’d like to give my condolences to the family,” Brown said in court before Leavitt sentenced him. “It’s not an easy time for my family and for the trials and tribulations you’re all going through, so I can’t imagine what it’s like for y’all.”…
