Last Saturday started with the kind of Las Vegas Valley weather that makes you want to get out before the day gets too busy. The sky was clear, the sun was out, traffic was light, and we were cruising through Henderson with no real rush and one very important stop in mind: Johnny Mac’s Water Street Tavern.
As part of our ongoing mission to try more local spots and spotlight the businesses that give each part of the valley its own personality, Johnny Mac’s had been on our list for quite some time. Friends had recommended it, the reviews were strong, and the place carried the kind of local history that always catches our attention.
We had been there once before on a Sunday, and the place was packed. This time, just past noon on a Saturday, the timing felt right. We walked in as a guitar player and singer were setting up in the center of the tavern, getting ready to bring some live music into the room…
