Storms could develop as early as early afternoon, with the highest chances over the interior and western areas, spreading toward the east coast metro areas later in the day.
Main hazards include frequent lightning, gusty to damaging winds up to 60 mph, and locally heavy downpours that may cause poor drainage flooding.
These storms may produce wind gusts up to 50+ mph and locally heavy rainfall.
High temperatures will range from the low to mid 90s this afternoon, with possible upper 90s over some interior locations. Heat indices may reach the 105-108°F range at times. Moderate to Major HeatRisk impacts are expected today. Elevated heat risk continues through the weekend.
