Handcuffed Inmate Escaped Custody At Florida Hospital, Fled In A Maserati

A multi-agency search is underway in Miami, Florida, for a prisoner who escaped custody in a Maserati . Theodrick Collins , 36, was initially apprehended at PortMiami on Saturday (October 19) due to several outstanding warrants. After complaining of chest pain, Collins was transported to the emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Upon being medically cleared, Collins managed to escape from the police officer escorting him and fled in a waiting silver Maserati, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

The Maserati, bearing an Alabama license plate “GBT862,” was later detected by a license plate reader in Jupiter, Florida. Collins is described as approximately 5’9″ and of medium build. His driver’s license is from Alabama, and his reason for being in Miami is currently unknown.

Authorities are urging the public to report any sightings of Collins or the Maserati.

Collins has a lengthy criminal history. According to WSVN , he was previously arrested in Mississippi for felony shoplifting, reckless driving, fleeing from police, and property theft. He was also arrested in Alabama last year after leading the police on a high-speed chase.
