Florida 10-year-old killed by New Year’s Eve celebratory gunfire

MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) — A 10-year-old girl was struck by stray bullets and killed while celebrating on New Year’s Day, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

A post on the department’s social media said Yaneliz Munguia, 10, was near NW 27 Avenue and NW 21 Street when the gunshots hit her.

“This heartbreaking incident serves as a devastating reminder that what goes up must come down,” MDPD said. “Bullets fired into the air can take innocent lives.”

Any tip leading up to an arrest is eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
