Miami cop who moonlighted as tax preparer pleads guilty to COVID-19 relief fraud

MIAMI – An officer with the Miami Police Department who worked as a tax preparer in his off time pleaded guilty to wire fraud in connection with fraudulent applications for COVID-19 relief loans, federal prosecutors announced Wednesday.

Tramaine Liptrot, 43, besides being an MPD officer, owned Liptrots Tax Services, for which he fraudulently obtained two Paycheck Protection Program loans, prosecutors said.
