State Rep. Vicki Lopez, whose district encompasses Key Biscayne, called for an independent investigation into the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission after body camera footage was deleted involving a Biscayne Bay boating fatality, a newspaper reported Saturday.
FWC investigated the Sept. 4, 2022, boat crash that killed 17-year-old Luciana ‘Lucy’ Fernandez from Miami. Lopez told The Miami Herald the Legislature needs “to learn what exactly happened and why so this never happens again.”
