Miami’s Black Greek-letter organizations celebrate 75th annual scholarship breakfast

The Miami-Dade National Pan-Hellenic Council aims to send students off to college with the confidence and support they need to navigate the transition. At its 75th Annual Scholarship Breakfast this past Saturday, the coalition of nine Black Greek-letter organizations awarded seven students scholarships based on their commitment to a college education. The event was marked by hope and excitement in a reunion of Miami-Dade alumni.

Student Morghan Taylor heard about the scholarship through her mom, who is a member of an Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. alumni chapter. Taylor is graduating from Miami Northwestern Senior High School this year and plans to major in criminal justice at Florida A&M University.

“I felt like crime documentaries were really intriguing to me. I want to help my community become a better place, because in this generation there’s a lot of crimes 24/7. I want to help people in my community to feel more safe,” Taylor told The Miami Times.

Each of the seven students received $300 to use at their discretion as they prepare for the next chapter…
