A six-year-old Miami boy at the center of an Amber Alert has been found safe after his alleged abduction by his own mother triggered state-wide concern. The child, whose Amber Alert was issued yesterday, was declared secure this morning, as confirmed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
Authorities were actively looking for the boy after his mother, Ismari Figueroa Leon, 34, reportedly took him during a supervised visit in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood. According to NBC Miami, the incident occurred around 5:38 p.m. yesterday, and Figueroa Leon had been granted only supervised visitation rights with her son at the time. A black Chevrolet Equinox with the Florida tag RUZG29 was said to possibly be involved in the departure.
Responding to the case as a “parental abduction”, Miami Police issued flyers with details of both the child, Ryan Artiles Figueroa, and his mother. The search came to a close when, this morning, the police confirmed the pair’s location. At the time of discovery, the boy was safe, although initial information did not clarify whether Figueroa Leon would face charges.
