While the Fourth of July Parade in Key Biscayne is known for its diverse golf cart decorations and bringing the community together, some of the biggest crowd pleasures were on four legs this time around. Locals brought their companions along for the celebration, turning the parade into a fun moment to enjoy the pets that make the Key feel like one big neighborhood.
For many residents, it was just as much a parade for dogs as it was for people.
Before the first golf cart went by, Rudy Duemichen and his goldendoodle were already greeting a crowd of kids who stopped to pet him. Rudy adjusted his leash and smiled.
“I love bringing him,” he said. “He gets distracted but it’s an opportunity for him to be in a busy setting and for me to continue training him. It’s good for both of us.”…
