Two women have found themselves in the grasp of the law after a Doral clinic became the focal point for an insurance fraud investigation. Valentina Villa Del Gordo and Sonia Villa Mizarvera stand accused of crafting false insurance claims connected with purportedly staged car accidents. The charges levied against them include racketeering, organized fraud, and grand theft, NBC Miami reported.
According to details procured by NBC Miami, Villa Del Gordo and Mizarvera, employees at the Calama Accident Care Center, allegedly billed an insurance company for nonexistent medical services and physical therapy. They reportedly manipulated blank and post-dated forms that had been signed by patients. It’s not an uncommon occurrence, as per Jose Beaumont, a Miami Insurance Brokers agent, who emphasized the regularity of such fraudulent practices, saying, “It’s very common. We see it very often.”
Beaumont further outlined in an interview with NBC Miami the various techniques employed to deceive the insurance establishment, including exaggerating the nature of one’s injuries to inflate the claimable damages. However, this deceit carries a broader economic impact, fiercely driving up insurance premiums for the collective population in Florida. “This causes the entire state to have higher premiums because of their loss ratio,” Beaumont elucidated. When these companies suffer losses through fraudulent activities, they have little choice but to escalate prices for the consumer base. “They simply transfer the cost over to the consumer, so we are all paying more for insurance because of fraudulent people in the state,” he added…
